“L” is for Love

Welcome to the “Spell it with Fabric” blog hop!
I look forward to share the letter “L” with you and a few things that I love.

I was assigned the letter “L” for Laundry Basket Quilts. I am super excited about it, not only because “L” is an easy letter to piece, but also because “L” is for “Love” and there is no doubt that I love what I do!

Through travels I can see patient and generous “Love” in others that create with threads.

Both men…

… and women express themselves in fibers. There are no borders or boundaries for creativity, our inner soul spills into our project and delivers an outward expression of ourselves.

I experienced this with my letter “L”, as soon as finished piecing my block, I wanted to leave my “fingerprint” on it.

I used some “Jellybean” Silhouettes for the applique to make it mine.

Jellybean batiks are so beautiful, I took a blue strip from the jelly roll and made another letter. Since “L” is also for leaves I couldn’t help but imagine how beautiful this fall “L” could be.

I wanted to make one after another, this “L” is using some of the “Jellybean” colors

I tell you, I was having so much fun it was “crazy”.

No matter what I did with the letter, even making it small enough to fit in my hand, there was no stopping!

With some small adjustments, I even made some companions for my “L” to fit in a little quilt.

I realized that part of the “Love” that I was feeling was fueled by the range of colors that I was showered with in the “Jellybean” fabric collection.

Colors that inspire us in unexpected places to create.

“Jellybean” fabric collection is a wonderful combination of printed fabric and batiks. It will be arriving in quilt shops April 2014 and I hope that it will inspire you!
In case you can’t wait…

Please leave me a comment with your favorite color by Feb 28th for a chance to win our random drawing and get your hands on this “Jellybean” fabric bundle.

Don’t forget to download your “L” pattern from the link below and be sure to visit the blogs on this Hop to collect all of the letters.

Black is my favorite color today. I just returned from my daughters high school Wind Ensemble performance. The band is dressed in black formals, her Oboe is black, and it’s night out. Black is beautiful too.

Really enjoy see your small version of the letters you made. Want to use the letters to create a family name quilt. However there are 11…yes 11 kids in my family so 8 by 11 size blocks would be way to big of a project. LOL!!

My favorite colors tend to change with the seasons. If I had to pick one for anytime of the year it would be any and all shades of blues. However, since it’s spring, right now I love bright greens pinks and yellows and when fall comes around browns, oranges, golds and rusts will be my favs, and always around Christmas it’s red. Thanks for your beautiful contribution to the letters. 🙂

What beautiful quilts! I especially love the cars on the bumpy road, your little alphabet, and those umbrellas. *sigh* As for my favorite color: it’s yellow. I’ve heard a sunny shade of yellow helps promote cheeriness and ward off depression; I don’t know if that’s true for everyone but it usually works for me.

Oh what fun projects you’ve shared with us. I love samplers and have cross-stitched several over the years so I especially like the letter sampler you made with the small letters. Your fabrics are beautiful. And that darling little helper posing in front of your quilts is simply precious. My favorite color is yellow but it needs all the other colors to make the world beautiful.

You have to pick one? For jelly beans it is tangerine, if you’ve never tried one, you should it is amazing how you can taste tangerine rather than generic orange. For fabric, it has to be blue. Blue can shine, or can be calm, and can be used in so many ways. Thanks for all you do for quilters and the quilting community.

i love your model, she is so adorable. my favorite changes just about every day, i think all quilters are like that. today is is purple. i have quilted for over forty years and all my quilts are hand pieced, hand quilted and donated to charity, unless the lord moves me to give one to a particular person. with each stitch, i put a little love into the quilt and hope the receipent enjoys it as much as i did making it. i am always in need of fabric because my only income is less than four hundred dollars monthly for disability. i enter every fabric giveaway i find. but some of the bloggers or blog followers will share their stash with me and words cannot express how much that means to me. i know quilters treasure their stash and for them to share with such generousity is amazing. thank you so much for a great giveaway and love your fabric. babscorbitt@gmail.com

Editya, thank you for inspiring us with your fabrics, your designs, your “L”ove of what you do and the artistry in what you see in others as well. I just fell in “L”ove with this post so much. It’s hard to pick just one color. I tend to lean more towards blues. They have always been peaceful to me, though I “L”ove splashes of all kinds of colors.
