Frivolous Friday

If you are like me, always looking for something different and special,
you are going to love my “Blue Barn”.

And I’m not talking about the Blue Barn painting that I have just purchased
to hang on a wall in our home.

I’m referring to my new “Blue Barn” fabric collection from Moda!

I have loved playing with it in my sewing machine for the last few weeks.

Also with my Blue Barn collection is a new “Frivol Tin” project. You will find everything you need in the Tin to complete this beautiful star tablerunner. These limited edition collectible tins will only be available for a short time, so don’t miss out on this fun project!

I love making these little blocks and incorporating them into my quilts.

Sometimes as a border like in the “Shining Star”

or as the focal point of my “Aurora” quilt which is patiently awaiting

a bit of my time for quilting – I can’t wait to use this quilt all year long!

I love making small projects from this “Blue Barn” color palette.

While some of my project I will use all year round, these projects from “Sleigh Bell Trio” capture the winter theme of the “Blue Barn” fabrics.

From Sleighs to Pine Trees to Snowflakes, they are a few of my favorite winter memories.

Thank you for “popping” in!
Please share a comment below about something that you have collected, you’ll be entered in a drawing for one of my “Blue Barn Frivol Tins” and on your way to a new collection!

Happy Quilting!
Edyta

I have been collecting tea pots for several years now. I get them as gifts from family members and friends or if I see an unusual one I buy it myself. It is always fun to have friends over and use my teapots. I also “collect” fabric and thread…gee, I wonder why…and I have a few of your patterns that I have dreams of making quilts from. You have a wonderful gift of putting just the right shades and varieties of color together in very pleasing designs. Thank you for sharing that.

I agree with the “washline” favorite! Mine, too♡ I’ve seen one similar with ruffled lace on the dresses, and tiny beads at the neckline. Maybe Oliver can pick me! I need that tin in my blue sewing room!

Like most quilters I collect fabric. I also collect ephemera and make a great deal of my own stationery. You will find me early in the morning with my tea tray, pen and paper writing letters and watching the sun break the horizon. I love repurposing ephemera into a beautiful card just like we quilters do with scraps of fabric and turn them into treasures that will stand a lifetime and more.

Thru no credit to me, what I seem to be collecting are grandchildren and great-grandchildren! There always seems to be a new baby quilt incubating in the back of my mind, knowing another need will arise soon. Thus, I also collect fabrics! My favorite color palette is what I call “Laundry Basket”, as this delicious color blend seems to call to me, over and over, again! By the way, I LOVE your blue barn painting!!

The fabrics are so beautiful, Edyta! I’ve collected lots of things over the years, and I share those with some of the ladies here….Santa Clauses, ornaments, fabric, of course! But several years ago I found I just had too much stuff, so I started to slow down collecting THINGS and now try to collect memories and experiences.

We all collect fabric but my most precious collection is of roses. Yes roses in all kinds of forms be it wood, china or cross stitched in peti point (my favorite because it was my grandmas). To understand why I collect roses you have to imagine a young couple getting out of their car on a rainy afternoon, I am talking raining cats and dogs! As I ran for the shelter of the lobby to our apartment I looked back to see my husband stop and cut me a rose that had grown through the fence. He was soaked but he presented me with this beautiful flower with all the love he had for me! Another couple riding in the elevator with us were fighting because he never did that for her anymore. My husband vowed never to stop and each year my collection continues to grow as do the anniversaries (39 years in June).

Like every quilter, the largest collection I have is of fabric. But I have started collecting vintage sewing machines and notions, tins, and I have always loved boxes, especially really small ones. Your Blue Barn fabric would be perfect for me as blue is my favorite color. I would be thrilled to win this Frivol tin! Thanks for the opportunity.

Hi there….I’m a collector of many things, antique butter molds, traditional rug hooks from times gone by to antique French linen. I adore things that have passed through time and hold a secret or two about the people who experienced the joy when getting them new. It’s how I feel when I purchase new fabric….the feel and anticipation of what’s to come!
