Sew Caring – Texas, we want to help

A long time ago someone recited this poem:

 “Life is mostly froth and bubble;

Two things stand like stone:

Kindness in another’s trouble,

Courage in our own”

– Adam Lindsay.

That is how quilters are to me.

I was fortunate enough to experience firsthand the kindness of quilters. As a group…

or as an individual, they reach out to help others.

Expecting nothing in return, they are just happy to see a smile from the quilt recipient.

Amid the devastation that we witnessed this past week from Hurricane Harvey we have seen tragedy and loss but we have also seen compassion and kindness for those in need of help.  People are doing what they can to assist neighbors and strangers alike during this difficult time.  The damage caused by this storm will continue to be seen after the flood waters recede. Houston and the surrounding areas will continue to need help and support.

We need to stand united.

Laundry Basket Quilts is proud to announce our Sew Caring Fundraiser.  From now until October 15th we pledge that every “Made in USA” pattern that we sell $5.00 of our proceeds will go towards helping with the recovery from this devastating storm.

Click on the link to purchase the pattern.

Thank you for helping us make a difference.

Our hope is to present “Made in USA” quilts along with the money we raise for families and businesses in the Houston area this October.

We will also be accepting “Made in USA” quilt blocks from any generous quilters that would like to make a block to be included in the quilts.  Make sure to sign your block.  The blocks can be mailed to:

Sleigh Bell Trio Table Runner – Come Quilt With Me!

With our latest book “Patches of Blue” I welcome you to our new home. I love to decorate it with blue and white quilts.

I especially love pretty table runners.  They set the atmosphere for the whole room.

This is one of my personal favorites.  I used pine tree blocks set in rows and then sprinkled in a few snowflakes.

You can find detailed directions for it in our new book “Patches of Blue” or included in our Sleigh Bell Trio pattern.

Come and quilt with me! On our YouTube channel, we just posted a new video to show how I made this table runner.  Just click on the picture above to see the video.  I enjoy making small projects.  It helps me to practice my blocks for larger ones… like the quilt behind me in this picture (Blue Barn Quilt).

The laser cut snowflakes are so easy to use.  You just fuse them in place and then stitch through the middle.

I cut some beautiful kits for you from our newest fabric collection Blue Sky.

If you would like to see them click on this link.

Take some time and enjoy these fun little quilting projects to dress up your home.

Happy quilting!

Patches of Blue – New Book

It is my great pleasure that I introduce to you my new book, Patches of Blue. This book will be available in Fall 2017.

I’ve always loved blue, it’s such a timeless and classic color combination. Not only when I design fabrics, but especially when making my quilts with such ease. I look forward to inspire you to create your own masterpieces.

This book is dedicated to the love of my life, my husband Michael.

My house, just like this book, is full of amazing inspiration of blue and white quilts.

I hope you will enjoy some of the close up pictures.

From a breathtaking gallery of antique quilts…

to some of your favorites from Laundry Basket Quilts.

This maybe a perfect invitation to start pulling some Patches of Blue and begin daydreaming of some special projects.

Don’t wait! Visit your local stores and ask them to order this stunning edition to your quilting library. Click this link to visit the Martingale website to put this book on your wishlist!

Happy Quilting!
