Mystery Quilt 2025 - Housekeeping

I have the best surprise for you - a Mystery Quilt!

Let’s start an adventure together—one quilt block at a time! With each piece we sew, a beautiful, original quilt design will slowly take shape. No full plan, just a shared creative journey where color, texture, and pattern guide us. Each block adds a new surprise, and by the end, we’ll have a one-of-a-kind quilt made from collaboration and curiosity.

This is a fun and perfect way to learn new skills and techniques or practice what you may already know, all while building a quilt you've never before seen!

Forest path

Starting in August, our new crafting adventure awaits!

This Mystery Quilt will be a weekly event - August 27th - October 22nd! Quilting clues, color themes and recipes for blocks will be posted every Wednesday on our Blog. Check below to get started with your supplies.

This event is free to everyone, and everyone is welcome!

Be sure you SIGN UP for our newsletter so you can be kept up to date for this event, and don't forget to tell your friends!

Follow along with the information below to best prepare for our mysterious journey ahead!

For piecing, we will be using a sewing machine and Aurifil 2310 thread. We will be making 9 different units, and as we make our units, I will share with you how to place them in the quilt!

Quilt Info:
•
Quilt size is 90½" x 90½" finished
•  Block sizes are 6" finished (6½" unfinished)
•  The quilt is made from 9 different block units

New Leaf Growth

The best part is, as we grow, we get to play with beautiful fabrics and use up all your scraps!

Fabric Requirements

Poppy Seeds Half Yard Bundle

•  Half Yard Bundle from a Fabric Collection
For this project, I recommend Poppy Seeds, Dahlia, Lighthouse, Sewing Bird, or Green Thumb collections, but any Half Yard bundle would look amazing! You can also choose fabrics from your own stash, more information below.

Poppy Seeds Light Background Bundle

•  1¼ yards of 4 beautiful light fabrics for background
We have Poppy Seeds, Dahlia, Lighthouse, Sewing Bird, and Pebbles Light Background Bundles that are perfect to match with your whatever Fabric Collection you choose!
Note: The Pebbles bundle looks great with the Green Thumb Half Yard bundle

•  1 yard of fabric for Border Blocks (block 9)
You can make your border scrappy from all the leftovers from your half yard bundle, or I recommend these border fabrics for the following collections: Poppy Seeds: A-1526-B2, Dahlia: A-1373-T, Lighthouse: A-1472-B, and Sewing Bird: A-1600-B

We also have an amazing PRE-CUT Fabric Kit in our Poppy Seeds Collection that has everything you need to start sewing right away!

Or this stunning PRE-CUT Fabric Kit is also available in our Sewing Bird Collection!

Note: If you are choosing fabrics from your own stash for the quilt top, you will need 5 yards of dark fabric and 5 yards of light fabrics. When choosing your dark fabrics, you can choose to make it as simple or scrappy as you'd like, and if you are leaning towards a scrappier look, you could try our fat eighth Scrappy Dark and Scrappy Light Bundles! Fat Quarters will work too, as long as you have 5 yards of darks and 5 yards of lights, you are good to go.

•   Backing: 2¾ yards of 108” or 8¼ yards of 42" width. This is the perfect time to use any leftover fabrics.

  • Binding: 2/3 yard fabric in a complimentary color. Another chance to use scraps from the quilt top!

We will be showing the quilt design in greyscale along the way, and also in some of our favorite color options to inspire you!

For my Mystery Quilt, I will be using Poppy Seeds fabric collection.
I think it's going to look SEW charming!

Below are all the supplies I recommend:
