Mystery Quilt 2025 - Week 1

Thank you for joining me for this year's mystery quilt! Together, we'll explore beautiful fabrics, discover new quilting techniques, and support each other's growth as quilters. With this project, my goal is not only to share stunning quilt blocks that come together into a gorgeous, finished piece, but also to show you creative ways to use these blocks in other projects. Be sure to read through each block post to discover what makes every block special and how it can inspire your quilting journey.

To begin, let's get all of our supplies ready!

This mystery quilt is going to look amazing no matter what fabrics you have chosen!
I will be working on my quilt with our Poppy Seeds collection.

Don't worry if you're not using the same fabric collection—I encourage you to use your own fabric scraps if that's what you have on hand! Just be sure to follow the color cues in my block for the best results. My goal is to inspire you every week! Take a look at the additional images of this week's block below, featuring a variety of fabric collections, to spark your creativity.

The blocks I chose for this year's mystery quilt are also my favorites to use as borders.
Over the years, many of you have asked how to make your quilts bigger or what to use for your borders,
so here you are!
We are not only going to make a beautiful mystery quilt, but also over the next few weeks,
I’ll be sharing my favorite border blocks to help inspire your creativity.

Here is an example of our first mystery block being used as a border around a Log Cabin.

Also love this quilt and want to make one of your very own?
We have this Log Cabin - Sewing Bird Pre-Cut Fabric Kit available on our website now!

Edyta’s Tip: Many times, I am being asked how much fabric I buy for a border.
My rule of thumb is to get between 2½ - 3 yards total.

For the border option above you will need approximately total yardage of:
1¼ yards light and 1¼ yards dark fabric.

I hope you enjoyed making this block with me and I look forward to quilting with you next week!

Happy Quilting!
Edyta
