Quilting Along – Jelly Snowflake

Updated: Jun 23, 2021

I am so excited to quilt along with YOU and the Fat Quarter Shop!

This new Jelly Snowflake Mystery Quilt from the Fat Quarter Shop is going to be so much fun and I can’t wait till the end – I have prepared some amazing border options for you! I am so excited

to collaborate with Fat Quarter Shop and share some beautiful ways to make

this project go from a 50-1/2″ to 70-1/2″ quilt.

The first step is choosing your favorite fabrics! I am looking forward to using my

Signature Style and Perfect Union Fabric Collections. My fabric combination will result in a light design over a blue background.

For making the Fat Quarter Shop mystery quilt, I am planning to use:

  1. 1 Jelly Roll or 14 – 2 1/2″ strips (Signature Style Jelly Roll)

  2. 2-1/2″ yards of background fabric (A-9589-BL or A-9593-BL from Perfect Union or for a more modern look – Linen Texture TP-1473-S2, which is a beautiful option)

  3. 5/8″ yard of binding (A-9589-BL, A-9593-BL, or TP-1473-S2). I’m going to use the same fabric as my background.

  4. 3-3/8″ yards of backing A-9577-L.

If you would like to add a border to your quilt – and I have some wonderful options for you. You will need additional fabrics.

  1. The left over 2-1/2″ strips from your Jelly Roll (additional information will be provided when borders are released).

  2. increase background to a total of 4 yards (A-9589-BL, A-9593-BL, or TP-1473-S2)

  3. increase binding to a total of 2/3 yard (A-9589-BL, A-9593-BL, or TP-1473-S2)

  4. increase backing to a total of 4-1/2 yards

Once you choose your favorite background, open your Jelly Roll and select 14 favorite strips. I chose mine with a touch of blue in them. This is going to make my quilt so dreamy!

You can join this Quilt Along on The Jolly Jabber Blog by Fat Quarter Shop. The fun begins on Thursday, July 2nd and I can’t wait to see you back here with your Jelly Roll for some beautiful borders!

Happy Quilting! Edyta
